No More Trans Fat
Uno Chicago Grill, formerly known as Pizzeria Uno or more informally as Uno’s, is a loosely-franchised pizzeria restaurant chain credited¹ with creating Chicago-style pizza. The first Uno’s was established in 1943 by former University of Texas football star Ike Sewell in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois².
Deep-dish-pizza maker Uno’s is deep-sixing the trans fat in its French fries. The Boston-based chain announced yesterday that, by Oct. 31, all 225 Uno’s worldwide will stop selling French fries containing trans fat, a substance linked to heart disease. Uno’s maintains it’s the first major casual-dining chain to offer 100 percent trans-fat-free fries. “As a restaurant company, we have an obligation to provide better nutrition if we can do so intelligently,” company CEO Frank Guidara said.

Climbing Trees Kill You
On Monday, a 49-year-old South Side man bragged he could climb a tree, proceeded to climb said tree, promtly fell out of the tree and died. Wentworth Area detectives are investigating the incident.

Hairy My Balls
Ottawa County, Mich., is in a hairy situation after an unfortunate typo was printed on ballots for the upcoming November election. A total of 170,000 ballots were printed with the word “public,” minus the “L.” The error occurred in a portion of text regarding a ban on some types of affirmative action. It will cost the county $40,000 to reprint the ballots.
